I have been pretty stubborn about keeping to a limited palette. Dark wood, brass or gold, rusted machine parts and natural elements. This gives my Foundlings an old, antique feel. I have, of late, started to branch out to silver. Starting with a Foundling that I made for Marie, I made a Foundling in silver, as silver is “our color”. This was to be the only one and yet, silver is starting to exert its pull. My friend Meryl gave me a lot of black and silver hardware recently that has my aesthetic thoughts spinning.¬†Sometimes these new silver pieces still look antique to my eye and sometimes these silver Foundlings start to look almost modern. I have even mused about adding a day-glow tone as an accent or perhaps a light oak box with black pieces. In this Foundling, the silver is still antique. Using a very personal, and very silver focal point, the Foundling almost built itself.
